Children & Young People

In several of our village churches we have a short all age services or meetings suitable for both adults and children:

Introducing our New Family Outreach Worker

This June, Kim Petty will be taking up the role of the SW7 Churches ‘Family Outreach Worker.’ Kim knows the area very well having lived in Barton with her family for many years. During her time in Barton she was central in setting up and running the benefice youth group; doing all of this as a volunteer. We are delighted that she is now going to be working in an employed capacity for the SW7 Benefice Churches.

The role of Family Outreach Worker will involve a mixture of supporting our current ministry to families and developing new initiatives. Kim will head up the team leading our children’s group at the GAP service as well as seeking to develop new initiatives to reach out to families in the benefice with the good news of Jesus.

We wish Kim well as she starts this exciting role.

Sunday School

We offer an interactive Sunday School at our Benefice Informal Service (also known as GAP). This meets in Long Compton Church from 4-5pm on the “odd” Sundays during school term time (1st, 3rd and 5th Sundays of the month). The Sunday School is for children aged 3-10 where they learn more about God from the Bible through storytelling, crafts and discussion. Younger children and babies (0-3s) are also welcome, but must be accompanied by an adult.

After the service we all enjoy delicious food like pizza and hotdogs together! We also have a youth group (11-16s) which meets during this service. For more details see the section on “Young People”.

School Assemblies and Services

We have very positive links with Acorns Primary School in Long Compton. The church in Long Compton hosts the school Christmas, Easter and Harvest Services.
